Good Afternoon,
It is coming around to a year since we implemented the requirement to change your password annually. As such, we have been starting to receive tickets regarding messages of expired passwords and how to change your password. As a courtesy, we wanted to send out an email to everyone in the company again with instructions on how to change your password and how to perform it remotely if you work from home. We kindly ask once more for each of you to keep a record of these instructions to help you when the time comes to change your password.
The following are what you need to know when choosing a new password:
- May not contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed two consecutive characters.
- Be at least eight characters in length. Ten or more is recommended.
- Contain characters from all of the following four categories:
- English uppercase characters (A through Z)
- English lowercase characters (a through z)
- Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
- Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
Complexity requirements are enforced when passwords are changed or created.
Accounts that have 5 consecutive bad password attempts will automatically lock out. Be sure to type your password correctly! If locked out it will automatically unlock after 10 minutes of no attempts.
Anyone in office should receive a prompt when you sign into the computer for the day to change your password. If it prompts when you are already signed into the computer, you just need to sign out of your local PC sign in and sign back in. If you are a remote user with a laptop or pc at home you will need to follow the instructions in the attached document.
